The fact is that different companies employ varied techniques when it comes to conducting an interview. In this article, I am shedding light on the top 5 successful interview techniques that are commonly used in the recruitment process and allow you to pick the right fit person for a job.

1.Traditional Interview

It is the most common type of interview technique. In this technique, an HR professional asks you about your skill and experience. This interview includes common and behavioral interview questions

Even there are job-specific questions. For example, if you signed up for the post of a bank manager, then the employer will ask popular bank job interview questions. The purpose of this interview is to know whether you are a good fit for the company or not.

Types of Traditional Interview

A traditional interview takes many different forms such as structured, unstructured, and semi-structured

  • One-to-One Interview ( Face to face interaction between a candidate and recruiter)

  • One-to-Many Interview (Panel Interview, a candidate has to talk with more than one recruiter)

  • Phone Interview: Call, Skype or Video calling interview

  • There is a possibility of recruitment bias

What to do?

Consider other interview techniques and get ready to adopt innovative and creative employee screening approach.

It is also known as Job Audition. A candidate gives his skill and talent audition. In this specific technique, a recruiter assigns a specific work-related task to a candidate and ask him to do it. He can see how he completes this task.

The benefits of the job simulation interview technique:

  • A recruiter can observe candidates. If a person can complete a job-related task in a way that a company wants him to then, he passes the selection test.

  • Instead of asking him basic interview questions, for example, “tell me about yourself,” it is better to let him simulate his job.

  • Job Audition is a beneficial employee screening process for a candidate, as well. By doing a job or handling a task, he can check whether he likes to perform that job, or he thinks it is the right job for him.

3. Casual Interview

In a traditional setting, an interview is conducted generally in a suitable environment. Try to think outside the box and go beyond official space. That means inviting the candidate to have a meal with you. Typically, you can ask him for lunch, but dinner is excellent too.

Casual Interview Advantages:

  • The purpose of this casual setting is to assess the soft, behavioral, and communication skills of a candidate. When a candidate gets this kind of interview call, he feels special.

  • Another benefit is that a casual environment lets him relax and be more of himself during a job interview. He enters into a comfort zone and shows you his real self.

  • You can’t analyze a personality only from having a look at his CV, and you need to get creative if you want to know a candidate. Make sure you have some communication and behavioral test ready for him during the meal period.

4. Virtual Interview

We are living in a time when augmented reality (AR) and Virtual reality (VR) are two profound gifts of modern technology. Going virtual is one of the most effective interview techniques since it will let you engage your candidate in a virtual environment.  Know are AR and VR job Interviews are Part of Future?
